Questions

How is this different from a normal citation checker?
Most checkers only work if the AI already produced a reference list — they check whether those references exist. This works on the bare prose: it reads the claims themselves and goes looking for real sources to back each one. It's the step before you have any citations at all.
Does it prove my AI answer is correct?
No — and it won't pretend to. Corroba only ever suggests sources that genuinely exist in real databases (it never invents one), and it grades each for quality, but a suggestion isn't proof. Always open the source and confirm it actually supports the claim. Claims it can't find any source for are flagged so you can verify them yourself.
Can it catch when ChatGPT made something up?
It helps: if Corroba can't find any real source for a claim across the scholarly databases, that's a strong signal the claim may be fabricated or unsupported — exactly the parts of an AI answer worth scrutinising before you rely on them.
